Astronomy research and technical careers
The careers that contribute to advancements in scientific research are numerous and include personnel from technicians to researchers, engineers and administrative staff.
These careers are present in public research institutes, universities and also in private industry.
Astronomy is a science of observing requiring complex and sophisticated technologies and therefore is a showcase for these various research careers.
Through six encounters, the movie “The Artisans of the Universe” presents six areas of LAM expertise:
optics,
mechanics,
electronics,
integration and testing,
scientific software engineering,
and astrophysics
These six areas are linked in a coordinated way in order to illustrate the development of observing instruments, then leading to data analysis and discussion.
